He can use it on the ground, in the air, or on a wall, though attacking on the ground forces him to stand still. The Z-Saber was expanded on in Mega Man X4, as Zero wields the Z-Saber entirely without his Z-Buster. When not used, Zero stores the deactivated saber hilt in a special sheath-like element located on his back (where in canon artwork barring his ambidextrous sprites, Zero has the sheath behind his left shoulder). In Mega Man X3, Zero can slash the Beam Saber while glowing green after performing a Double Charge Shot. In Mega Man X2, Zero uses it in his Dash Attack and finishes his Z-Buster Charge Shot combo by slashing it to emit a shockwave. In Mega Man X2 and Mega Man X3, this weapon is known as the Beam Saber ( ビームサーベル, Bīmu Sāberu, sometimes Beam Sabre).
